OB DONATES FIRST AID KIT TO ORPHANAGE
Operation Blessing in Nigeria paid a visit to Hope for Survival Orphanage in Gishiri community, a suburb outlying Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The visit was part of a ‘First-Aid in Orphanages’ project being coordinated by Ms. Ukot Ette, a young lady with a heart for orphans who is currently serving a one year mandatory program with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
‘First-Aid in Orphanages’ is an ongoing project which Operation Blessing is partnering in by providing first aid kits and medicines to a number of orphanages around the FCT. Hope for Survival Orphanage, one of the beneficiary’s of the first aid kit project was established in 2004 and currently has 45 orphans it cares for.
The Director of the orphanage, Mrs. Ruth Ibrahim explained how she’s dreamt of having a small clinic for the orphans, saying “God used Ukot to seek assistance from Operation Blessing. This project started with a small first aid kit but now, with support from Operation Blessing, we also have a small sick bay equipped with medicines and a bed, where our children can receive treatment and rest while they recuperate.”
During the visit to the orphanage, little Judith, an orphan who had not been feeling well, was examined on the spot by the nurse and treated by medicines prescribed by the OB pharmacist. In addition to providing care for the orphans, the home also runs a school which benefits not only the orphans but also the children in the community as there is currently no school in the area.
To show their appreciation, the OB team was treated to songs and a short drama skit by the orphans who were very excited to receive the visitors. |
