Producing Fruit That Lasts!
CBN programmes such as Turning Point, 700 Club, Another Life, etc have been having a major impact on the lives of many individuals, Christian and non-Christian alike, especially on the African continent. Programmes like The 700 Club and Turning Point, which contain stories and testimonies from countries in which CBN has established a presence, are shown on various TV networks and reach an almost innumerable viewing audience with the triumph of the love of God and the victory of good over evil.

In Nigeria (Abuja), the Regional Headquarters for CBN’s Anglophone West Africa operations, the production department churns out heartwarming and often thought-provoking testimonies of the faithfulness of Jesus Christ in meeting the needs of God’s people. These stories are aired regularly on the international edition of 700 Club and Turning Point, ministering to millions of CBN programme viewers across the globe.
From the humorous to the tragic and from the bizarre to the dangerous, CBN’s coverage of the move of God around the world provides a mixture of faith, hope and joy. Above all, every episode ministers the love and compassion of Jesus Christ to millions of viewers, offering them the opportunity to receive His salvation, healing and comfort.
For the dedicated men and women who often venture out into the unknown to record testimonies of how Christ is touching people’s lives, the joy of the Lord is their strength. Speaking on his work, Austin Ekanem, Production Manager for CBN Africa, sees what he does as “…primarily fulfilling a calling. In the production department we use the media and the various experiences we have in diverse fields to promote God’s work. We could use these same experiences we have to work at a secular job but the satisfaction we derive working for God would be lacking.” He continues that with obedience to God’s call, the production team encounters various challenges but they “count it all joy” and trust in God to help them overcome.

Sharing similar sentiments Okechukwu Roberts, CBN Africa's Senior Videographer, finds his work exciting and interesting. “During production, we are privileged to hear people’s testimonies first hand, we are always excited to meet people whom God has touched in different ways.” He recounts a particular experience he had in Calabar (Cross River state), where, in the pursuit of a story on Mary Slessor (A Scottish missionary known for stopping the killing of twins in Cross River state) for Turning Point, they came upon a woman whom God had told would one day appear on a CBN programme. She had no idea that CBN existed in Nigeria and got the shock of her life when the CBN Production team showed up on her doorstep and introduced themselves!
He continues saying his work is fulfilling, especially when he sees how God uses CBN to show what He is doing in people’s lives. For the CBN Africa Production Crew, the fact that God can use them to touch a life makes all the challenges encountered in recording a story worth it. They believe that “…as long as they are faithful in what they are doing, God will surpass their heart’s desires”.
